Locker has been playing like a franchise QB and we all know that to have a long run of success you have to have a franchise QB. Locker is showing he is a leader who is willing to battle to get back on the field. We all know how important that was during the Mac9 era. Here are the numbers so far...

Total QBR 67.8 6th best in the league
passer ranking 97.1 9th best in the league for QBs who have played most of the games
    completion % 61.8%
    TD:INT 8:1

All of those stats are greatly improved from last year. The best part is that these numbers were not put up against a bunch of weak defenses. In the five games Locker has played we have faced 4 defenses ranked in the top 8 for total defense. Only the Bolts defense is in the bottom half of the league.

If you had told me before the season that Locker would have those numbers against the defenses that we have faced i would have been ecstatic. Thus the impetus for this thread. If Locker continues to perform like he has in the 5 games he has played in this year then we have ourselves a franchise QB.

The main thing i would be concerned about going into next season is keeping Gregg Williams. Will we offer him another contract this offseason or will we be stupid and let him go and wind up keeping Gray?

This is the kind of dumb decision the front office better not make.Of course Webster isn't crazy enough to let Williams go and retain Gray knowing full well we went from being one of the worst defenses under Gray to being one of the best under Williams.

As far as the front office saying Gray is the one calling the plays does the front office really think the fans believe that nonsense.

If we do keep Williams for the defense and Locker is healthy and ready to play i think we will be a really good team next season.

Our schedule gets so much easier from here on out, minus two games vs Indy and a trip to Denver. There is NO excuse for Munch to win fewer than 10 games, barring another injury to Locker. If we win fewer than 10 games, he needs to go.

The future looks bright either way.. all the pieces are coming together. And whenever you have a good QB and defense, you're going to win a lot of games.

We can only afford two losses if we want to make the playoffs so we need to split vs the colts. Unfortunately I can see us losing some winnable game ending up 9-7.

I said 9-7 before the season began, and I honestly see 9-7 as the likeliest outcome right now... and that's only if we beat the teams we're supposed to beat. I know we're gonna drop a stupid game. I know this team too damn well... if the Jags are still winless when we play them (which they will be), I could seriously see us playing down to them and losing. We almost always do. Then there's the Raiders... we've proven we can't contain mobile QBs, so there's that.

I'm just hoping 9-7 can get us the 6th seed.
