Klug is a tweener because he does not have the speed and length to play on the edge. Solomon does have the speed and length to play on the edge. He also has the agility.

Solomon has the athletic profile of top Edge rushers. Whether that's in a 2 or 3 points stance- it really doesn't matter. Only thing I can't comment on are his drops/coverage fluidity because I didn't see those drills at the combine.

Also his run defense is rough at best so the idea he would play morgans role is wrong. He would/should be on the weak side almost always. Don't let offenses have a number advantage for a run to his side. All bad news.

What you've just described is someone who tests out very well at the combine, but doesn't have the tape to match. Position flexibility is awesome, but not in the top 10, that just means there's no defined skillset in my opinion. Is he a 3-4 DE, 3-4 OLB, 4-3 DE? Nobody really knows yet, and that's not a positive thing 20 days until the draft.

Allen, while a stud, is a Casey clone and we have depth at DL, thanks to the Autism Johnson pick.

If i'm gonna reach, which is exactly what we'd be doing taking Solomon, I'm going to reach for specific positions of need such as WR or ILB. Foster is an animal and would instantly upgrade out entire D and bring the attitude that Mularkey and JRob instilled on the offensive side of the ball last year. Davis is the best route runner, has the tape and measurables sought from a #1 and the production is unheralded. Those would be my 2 choices.

For those who like Foster, you realize that Sagan basically admitted the guy needs to be babysat? That's not going to work in the NFL. Here's an excerpt from the MMQB article on Foster:

"Saban says he hopes Foster’s agent, Malki Kawa, provides a comprehensive support network like the one Foster built at Alabama in order to ease his transition into professional life. Adds Saban: “I think it’s important that he has people around him who will provide him good direction, have good experience and the ability to anticipate what’s happening, so you don’t get these emotional responses to things that are insignificant.”"

So he basically needs someone with him all the time so they can "anticipate" when he's going to throw a temper tantrum and fix the situation for the big baby.

I personally would rather have Foster or Allen over Solomon Thomas. Just me though...

Agree. Neither IMO would be Robinson ' s first choice at #5, but if he can't trade it, those would seem to be his best options if this scenario happens.

Why would we be "forced" to take Allen?
